You don’t need to go far just to find a book to add to your collection. There are plenty of bookshops in Cambridge that has the book you want.

 

  1. Cambridge University Press Bookshop

The oldest bookshop in the country carries items and souvenirs about Cambridge. You will also find publications from Cambridge University Press and other academic books. You can also find non-fiction books here.

 

  1. Heffers

Potterheads might consider this bookshop a haven, with the paraphernalia, designs, and books on Harry Potter. Even if you are not a fan, you will still find some interesting books for class. Heffers carries different editions of a particular title, so you can come here to check whether they carry the edition you are looking for.

You can also find stationery items and cards made by Cambridge artists.

 

  1. Oxfam Books

You can always find a gem amidst stacks of pre-loved books. In Oxfam, you will find second-hand books on various topics.

If you are a university student, you can also browse the shelves here to look for books you can use in class. You are sure to find bargain books here.

Aside from books, you can also buy vinyl records at Oxfam.

 

  1. Plurabelle Books

Plurabelle is another bookshop for second-hand books. The books they carry were stocks unsold online, which are now being sold in-store. For fiction books, they carry classics, poetry, crime, folklore, etc. For non-fiction books, you can buy titles on gender studies, politics, film, and Oxbridge-related works.

Plurabelle is quite far from the city center, but it is worth the destination if you are looking for inexpensive books. You can spend the whole day just browsing on the shelves.

 

  1. Sarah Key Books The Haunted Bookshop

Address: 9 St. Edward’s Passage, Cambridge CB2 3PJ

If you are looking for antique books, you might find the title here. Though the bookshop is quite small, the place is full of books. You can find general fiction, as well as old Penguin classics.

The owners have reported some ghostly presence in the store. But if you want to see for yourself, include this bookstore in your itinerary the next time you are in the city.
