Cambridge Festivals to Mark in Your Calendar

Have your planner full in no time by attending these annual festivities. Depending on your interests, you can take your pick in any of these festivities.

 

Cambridge Folk Festival

This one is for music lovers! Come to Cherry Hinton Hall Park and listen to folk artists, country music, blues, and roots. Go to The Den, to listen to under-30 musicians. If you are a young musician who wants to improve your style, you can attend workshops in The Hub. And The Club Tent is where local clubs perform every weekend.

The Cambridge Folk Festival is held in the last week of July. The full festival ticket is £179.

 

Cambridge Shakespeare Festival

If you can quote Shakespeare while you sleep, then you should go to this festival. Except for Sunday, there will be nightly performances of Shakespeare’s plays.

This festival runs for eight weeks, from July to August. Performances are held at the private gardens of the University of Cambridge. Tickets cost £17. Those who want to purchase season tickets can buy the CSF Gold Card for £90 and CSF Silver Card for £45.

 

Cambridge Film Festival

Get a chance to watch award-winning films at this festival. It takes place in cinema houses such as the Arts Picturehouse, The Light Cinema Cambridge, Sawston Cinema. Previously, screenings were also held in the street, churches, and colleges. If you prefer outdoor viewing, why not try the Movies on the Meadows screening at Grantchester Meadows.

This film festival is held every autumn. The ticket price is £6 for daytime viewing and £12 for evening viewing. Some festival tickets also go for £30.

 

Cambridge Science Festival

Science becomes even more exciting at this annual festival. Guests will be updated with the latest interests in Science. The exhibits and activities prepared for this festival aim to encourage children to take up courses in Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering.

The University of Cambridge sponsors this event, which is held every March. Hands-on exhibits, activities, and other events are found all over the university. Admission is free, thanks to its numerous sponsors.

 

Cambridge Beer Festival

The largest beer festival in Cambridge is held in May. Get the chance to try all kinds of beers from local and international breweries in one roof. If that’s not enough, guests can also check the bread and cheese on the exhibit.

This festival is held in Jesus Green. It is the largest beer festival in CAMRA.
